Ryan Airfield (RYN) is leased from the City of Tucson and operated by the Tucson Airport Authority and is the designated General Aviation (GA) reliever airport to Tucson International Airport (TUS). Ryan Airfield is located 14 miles southwest of downtown Tucson. TAA’s mission is:
“To promote aviation and foster economic development by strategically planning, developing and operating the most effective, efficient and safest airport system for southern Arizona.”
Ryan Airfield occupies 1,877 acres and is home to 237 airfield-based aircraft. More than 109,000 aircraft operations occurred at the airfield in 2017. Ryan Airfield supports flight training, general aviation, law enforcement, and military helicopter activity. Ryan Airfield has a control tower that is part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Contract Tower Program, the only such tower in Southern Arizona.
